New Mission Feature
We’re very excited to unveil our biggest feature yet. Get ready to explore cities and content in Mafia Wars with in-game characters that guide you on Missions.
Missions are special tasks that players complete to gain rewards. Each Mission starts with an in-game character explaining what objectives you need to accomplish (i.e. do specific jobs, fight a special character, etc.) as you navigate your way through a city.
Missions provide a new way to discover all the rich content within Mafia Wars. There are Missions based on your progress within the game and Missions to guide users who haven’t finished New York or Italy. There will also be special Missions that feature limited-time special events.
All your Missions assignments will appear at the top of the Mafia Wars homepage. New, active, and completed Missions can be viewed and managed by using the Missions icon that is located at the top of the game header. Complete your Missions and you will be rewarded with awesome loot items, currency and/or experience. As an added bonus, you can share victory coins with your mafia members.
Missions are going to evolve to included more destinations and your feedback and ideas are very important. Please go to http://getsatisfaction.com/mafia_wars/ if you would like to submit your opinions and ideas.

Zynga Headquarters
Before attending the Mafia Wars Meet the Family Event in San Fransisco, I was given a tour of Zynga Headquarters. This was really cool and something I've always been curious about. Zynga Headquarters is located in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Fransisco, California. It's a beautiful building with lots of windows. Here is a view from the back entrance.
When you walk inside from the front entrance, it's obvious that games are what this company is about. Nobody can just walk in and all visitors need to check in with Security first.
Each game that Zynga develops has it's own office space. Here are the offices for Cafe World, FrontierVille and the newest game CityVille. Everything at Zynga is very secretive and all the offices have tinted windows so you can't see in. What you do see on all the windows are all the promotional posters.
I was lucky enough to be able to go inside the Mafia Wars office and it was a big open space with lots of computers. You can see here that the developers work very hard. It was Saturday afternoon and 3 of them were plugging away. They were very friendly and all seemed really happy with their jobs.

Dish It Out! 1000 Free RPs!

It is a time of feasting and we have put together a contest in honor of the Thanksgiving season, yet still holds true to the Mafia Wars spirit... Dish it Out!
Simply create a Mafia Wars themed dish for your holiday festivities, snap a photo and enter it for a chance to win 1000 RPs! (for official rules and how to enter, check out the contest thread on the forums).
Of course there have been several jokes made comparing the game to various foods and dining experiences (some of them pretty funny, others... well, not so funny, but good try at humor guys ;) ) but there are a few people who have taken the time and created actual edible dishes.

Fisher House Charity Item

Revamping your Inventory
If you've been playing Mafia Wars for a while (and that can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 years) you probably have collected a ton of different weapons, armor, vehicles and animals. We understand that trying to keep track of everything you have can be a chore when your inventory looks like this image:
It is hard to know what you have, what you are using to outfit your 501 and what you need to get. That's what we hope to improve by doing an Inventory Revamp. Currently we are in our labs working on a solution to better organize your inventory... AND WE WANT YOUR INPUT!

Halloween Loot!
If you need some extra protection in your fights, you won’t want to miss the Bone Cycle, with 39 attack and 76 defense, or the Hell Sickle, packing a 36 attack and 77 defense! Italy Village Properties

Along the Mediterranean coastline lies a picturesque Italian Village named "My Village". It can be found by traveling to Italy and utilizing the Property Tab on your Mafia Wars game. The images are breathtaking and there are many surprises in store. Don't let the beauty of this small seaside village distract you. There are major crime syndicates waiting for your arrival. Show them who's in charge and start building your Village.
The first property you will encounter as you explore Italy is The Port. Your Level I Port is ready and waiting for you. Once you claim it, strive to upgrade it to Level X. The Port is like the Chop Shop, Weapons Depot and Armory Depot of New York but is not specific to any one type of equipment item. There are a total of 10 items that you can craft. Each item unlocks as you upgrade your Port. There are four property building parts that randomly drop while performing jobs, fights and robberies. Use these parts or Reward Points to upgrade and unlock the items that will make your character stronger.
Lira is required to craft the equipment items and no additional building parts are needed. The items are listed below along with their stats and any character skill boosts.
There are 5 other properties which will unlock as you progress through Italy. These properties will earn you more Lira and Boosts as you upgrade them. These properties require an additional building item to upgrade. The unique property building items are acquired by doing specific jobs.
